Documentary Project Hires Polymash for (The) Ghost Show!

(The) Ghost Show is a Heritage Lottery supported documentary project that celebrates the culture and heritage of Scotland’s Travelling Showpeople. Offering a unique insight into the people behind ‘The Shows’ in Scotland. The project is run by MIMAC-Rushes in partnership with the Scottish Screen Archive and the Glasgow Film Theatre. For further information on the project there will be a link here soon.

GhostShow.Org however, is the site you are looking at now! It is a sister, an experimental cousin, an aesthetic twin of (The) Ghost Show and is the work of Glasgow-based artist Chris Dooks. Dooks has initially been funded for six weeks from October 1st, to develop a residency-like series of micro works with all work being exhibited on this site. Chris will be producing photographs, sounds, music, microfiction - based on both a moving image archive from the main project, but also to make contact with the Travelling Showpeople in the East End of Glasgow. If funding is successful in November, he will be taking the work much further and forming a series of performances, exhibitions and compositions in February 2009 at Market Gallery and potentially at The Glasgow Film Theatre.
